Actions of Maximal Growth

We study acts and modules of maximal growth over finitely generated free monoids and free associative algebras as well as free groups and free group algebras. The maximality of the growth implies some other specific properties of these acts and modules that makes them close to the free ones; at the same time, we show that being a strong “infiniteness” condition, the maximality of the growth can...

New insights into growth hormone’s actions on the macrophage: implications for non-growth-related actions of growth hormone

hormonal and metabolic factors, including blood glucose levels, exercise, sex hormones, glucocorticoids and thyroid hormone. At the cellular level, the pleiotropic action of GH is elicited by its interaction with the GH receptor (GHR). GHR belongs to class I cytokine receptor superfamily that includes receptors for PRL, leptin and interleukins. The predicted molecular mass of GHR is ~70 kDa. An...

Liouville and Logarithmic Actions in Laplacian Growth

We discuss and construct an action functional (logarithmic action) for the simply connected Laplacian growth and obtain its variation. This variation admits various interpretations. In particular, we consider a general smooth subordination evolution and give connections with the Virasoro algebra and Neretin polynomials.

The Hypophyseal Growth Hormone, Nature and Actions

many formulae and figures. Its many chapter subheadings give the book its rather terse, outline form. A discussion of methods of isolation, characterization, and determination of purity is followed by successive chapters dealing with reaction rates as a function of substrate concentration, inhibitor action, temperature, and pH. Thermodynamic concepts are well developed in chapters on energetics...

Actin's Actions in LTP-Induced Synapse Growth

F-actin is required for LTP induction, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. New results show that LTP produces an increase in actin-rich spines. Furthermore, these spines have large synapses, strongly suggesting that LTP involves synapse growth. This process appears to require LIMK-1 phosphorylation of the actin depolymerizing factor cofilin.
